Board Chair
Helen Gibson
Leads the vision, development and delivery of community-focused arts initiatives at The Queanbeyan Hive. Trained as a graphic designer at the University of Canberra, Helen brings extensive experience across publishing, advertising, fashion and government, with a strong focus on public galleries, museum exhibitions and education programs. In 2014, she established The Queanbeyan Hive in a restored heritage cottage and founded Create Collaborate Collective Inc. to support and nurture the local arts community through music, art and markets.

JOAT (Jack of All Trades)
Frank Bresnik
Frank Bresnik is a longstanding Queanbeyan local whose commitment to community life is as constant as his trademark enthusiasm. As the driving force behind Maintenance and Hospitality, Frank brings reliability, warmth, and a hands-on approach. He leads the Men’s Group at The Hive, and contributes to QBN’s Heritage, Culture, Arts & Promotions Inc. (HAPI). Known affectionately as a Recycler Extraordinaire, Frank has a knack for giving new life to old things — and for inspiring others to do the same. And yes, it’s widely accepted that he can talk underwater, a talent that makes him both an unforgettable storyteller and the heartbeat of many community gatherings. Frank’s presence is felt everywhere, his opinions are always ready to spark a lively discussion, and his passion for Queanbeyan is unmistakable. He’s not just part of the community — he’s one of the forces that keeps it thriving.

Music Director
Mal Bennett
Leads our music activities with passion and generosity, creating opportunities for people to come together through performance, learning, and shared musical experiences. Mal is a respected, experienced and competent musician in his own right and well known within the local music scene - especially within the folk music community.

Art Exhibit Co-ordinator
Dennis Mortimer
Leads the planning, curation, and delivery of visual art exhibitions that align with organisational mission and engage the community. Dennis, co-founded The Artists Shed with Margaret Hadfield, Queanbeyan (2004 -2015), an independent art studio, facilitating art tuition, concerts, exhibitions, community art projects and studio spaces. Dennis has extensive experience as an exhibition curator and arts educator. Dennis is currently running classes at The Artists Shed (Fyshwick) and his studio – The Bunker Arts Studio, located in Queanbeyan.
